What Happened?

On December 27, 2025, Mullinax Ford of Central Florida discovered suspicious activity in its computer environment. The company launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party forensic specialists. The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor gained access to certain Mullinax systems between December 4, 2025 and December 25, 2025, and during that period information stored on those systems was accessed and copied. The review of impacted documents was completed on March 18, 2026. Mullinax Ford of Central Florida notified affected individuals by written notice on April 15, 2026. Public reporting states that 4,088 individuals in the United States were impacted. The incident was reported as a ransomware attack, and the ransomware group DragonForce publicly claimed responsibility and posted about the breach on February 1, 2026. Government/regulatory reporting is referenced through state Attorney General sources (Indiana, Maine, and Massachusetts).
